When do I Feed my Queen Ant?

Please see the attached photos of how to feed your ant, sugars (honey/nectar) when needed. Some people prefer putting a drop of honey directly in the test tube, while others prefer putting the honey on tin foil and putting the foil directly in. Please be sure to keep your ant in a dark, quiet place where she can adapt to her new home. She will get stressed if she is continually disturbed or has bright lights shining on her.

Important – If she has workers, or is a semi-Claustral ant, she will also need protein. Please check the ant sheet that arrives with your ant to see if your queen is semi-Claustral. For protein, we use chopped up live mealworms from Petbarn (dried mealworms will not work). Remove the head and tail so the ants can access the meat, then give them a third of a worm every five days. Remove the old protein after a few days so it does not mould. These mealworms keep in the fridge.
