The most commonly found ant in Australia, Iridomyrmex ants are spread across the entire country. These are unknown browner species. These are considered one of the best ant species for beginner ant keepers, as they are small, require minimal care, and the queens are very easy to raise. Their numbers grow quickly, making them ideal for someone who wants a colony quickly and simply.
