Easily our most beautiful ant. Hookeri colouring can range from green (most common) to purple, blue, brown, and gold. While most Hookeri queens will feature some degree of blue or purple — and some queens can even be entirely blue or purple — some are just green. More in description below.

These ants are often mistaken for green-ants (Rhytidoponera Metallica) as a result of their similar, dark green appearance. Unlike green-ants, they cannot sting, making them quite suitable for beginner to intermediate keepers. The queen pictured has a purple tinge, however there is a great degree of variation in the colouring of P. Hookeri (mostly green, often purple, blue, brown, and gold), so purple colouring cannot be guaranteed. if you’d like a specific colour, shoot us an email or use the Messenger function in the corner and we can work something out.
