This species is arboreal, making their nests in trees and shrubs. They’re often built using leaves, dry plant materials and soil, all woven together with silk of their larvae. When their nest is disturbed, a number of ants will come out and look for the intruder. They will also make a distinct “rattle” noise by movement across the hard leaf surface to warn the intruder. It is not necessary to house these ants in a naturalistic set-up.
